in the past two decades we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of cars on the road in fact there are now more cars in use than there are people on the planet however this trend is not sustainable and we are already starting to see a decline in the number of cars in use in the next twenty years we will see a further decline in the number of cars in use for a number of reasonsfirst the cost of owning and operating a car is becoming increasingly expensive the price of gasoline has more than doubled in the past ten years and the cost of maintenance and repairs is also on the rise as a result many people are choosing to use public transportation or marshaling services instead of owning their own carsecond the advent of selfdrivinj cars will also have a major impact on the number of cars in use selfdrivinj cars will be much more efficient than human driven cars and they will also reduce the need for parking spaces as a result we will see a decrease in the demand for carsthird the increasing awareness of the environmental impact of cars is also leading to a decline in the number of cars in use more and more people are choosing to walk bike or take public transportation in order to reduce their carbon footprint as a result we will see a decrease in the number of cars on the roadin conclusion the number of cars in use is likely to decline in the next twenty years for a number of reasons this decline will have a number of positive impacts including reducing traffic congestion saving money and reducing the environmental impact of transportationsource
